These terms
The Academy of Culinary Excellence is a private archive of films, volumes and recipes, operated by [registered name of the operator] (“the Academy”, “we”, “us”), a company registered in England and Wales under number [company number], of [registered address], and delivered with The Training & Learning Company.
These terms govern your use of it. By signing in you accept them. If you do not, do not sign in.
We may write to you at the address your membership was issued to about anything in this document.
Admission, and your membership
Admission is by invitation. A membership is issued to one person and stays with that person: it is not a licence for a kitchen, a brigade, a college or a company.
Your word of entry is yours alone.
- Do not pass your credentials to anyone else, inside your kitchen or outside it.
- Do not let another person sign in as you, or sign in on your behalf.
- Tell us at once if you believe someone else has your details, or if a device you signed in on is lost.
Anything done under your credentials is treated as done by you.
What the Academy holds
The films, the Learning Collection, the recipes, the photography and the design of these pages are owned by us or by those who licensed them to us, and are protected by copyright. Nothing here is in the public domain and nothing here is offered for reuse.
For as long as your membership stands we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to:
- watch the films and read the volumes for your own practice and professional development;
- cook the recipes, in your own kitchen and in the kitchen you work in;
- print or keep a copy of a recipe or a chapter for your own use at the stove.
That licence is for you. It ends when your membership does.
What may not be done with it
You may not:
- record, screen-capture, download or otherwise make a copy of a film;
- republish, post, stream or circulate any part of the archive, in whole or in extract, anywhere — including a social account, a private group or an internal drive;
- show the films publicly, or use them to teach, train or examine anyone, whether or not you charge for it;
- use anything here in your own product, course, book or menu photography;
- remove or obscure any mark, credit or notice carried by a film, a volume or a page;
- scrape, crawl, harvest or bulk-download the site, or use it to train a machine-learning model;
- attempt to reach any part of the site your membership does not open, or to work around the members’ entrance.
If you want to use something here in a way this document does not allow, write to us and ask. It is often a shorter conversation than you would expect.
The kitchen remains yours
What is taught here is instruction and opinion drawn from a working life at the stove. It is not a food safety management system and it does not stand in place of one.
You remain responsible for the safety of what you cook and serve — for your hygiene practice and HACCP obligations, for allergen information given to whoever eats it, for sourcing, temperature and storage, and for the law and licensing where you cook. Ingredients and their labelling differ between suppliers and between countries: check them against your own, every time, rather than against a recipe written here.
Availability
The Academy is kept as a working archive rather than a service with a promised uptime. Films and volumes are added, recut, corrected and occasionally withdrawn. We do not undertake that any particular piece will remain available, or that the site will be reachable without interruption.
Ending a membership
You may leave at any time; write to us and we will close your membership.
We may suspend or end a membership that breaches these terms — in particular one whose credentials have been shared, or which has been used to copy or circulate the archive. Where the breach is not serious we will normally write to you first.
When a membership ends, the licence above ends with it and any copies you hold under it should be destroyed.
Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. If you are using the Academy as a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Otherwise, and to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of contracts or goodwill, or for any indirect or consequential loss, however it arises out of your use of the Academy or of anything cooked from it.
Changes to these terms
We may revise this document. The revision date at the head of the page is the one that matters; continuing to sign in after a change means you accept the version then standing. Where a change is material we will say so when you next arrive.
Law
These terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
